Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
J. Gründel and A. Nützel 2012 | After Wenz & zilch (1959) and burn & thOMpsOn (1998), emendated to cover also Jurassic representatives: The shell is ovate with a more or less elevated spire. The spire of the modern Acteon is broadly conical. Jurassic representatives have a higher spire. The whorls are convex without or rarely with a ramp. They are ornamented with spiral grooves which are commonly pitted. The aperture is elongated, acute posteriorly and broadly rounded anteriorly. The aperture usually has at least one and up to three columellar folds. Rarely, folds are lacking. The protoconch is smooth and transaxial to almost coaxial. |
