Siderofungia was named by Reiss (1889) [Sepkoski's age data: K u T Ol Sepkoski's reference number: 796]. It is not extant. Its type is Columnastraea bella.

It was assigned to Siderastreidae by Baron-Szabo (2002); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
