Taxonomy
Volzeia was named by Cuif (1966) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis-l J Toar Sepkoski's reference number: 183,185,869]. It is not extant. Its type is Thecosmilia badiotica. It is the type genus of Volzeiidae.
It was assigned to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Volzeiidae by Roniewicz and Michalik (2002), Stanley and Onoue (2015).
