Taxonomy

Protocyrtus was named by Rohdendorf (1938).

It was assigned to Protohelorinae by Johnson (1992); to Brachycera by Carpenter (1992); to Mesohelorinae by Rasnitsyn (1990) and Zhang and Zhang (2001); and to Heloridae by Li et al. (2017).

Synonyms

Gurvanhelorus was named by Rasnitsyn (1986).

It was synonymized subjectively with Protocyrtus by Li et al. (2017).
