Taxonomy
Noctuites stavropolicus was named by Kozlov (1988). Its type specimen is PIN 254/185, a forewing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Temnolesskaya Station, Stavropol (PIN collection 254), which is in a Miocene lacustrine shale in the Russian Federation.
