Schistometopus collaris was named by Rasetti (1951). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is W20d. Eiffel Peak, which is in a Delamaran marine limestone/shale in the Mt. Whyte Formation of Canada.
It was recombined as Caborcella collaris by Sundberg (2004).
