Taxonomy
Enaliarctos barnesi was named by Berta (1991). Its type specimen is USNM 314295, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Beaver Creek, south, which is in a Chattian marine sandstone in the Nye Formation of Oregon.
