It was corrected as Iniopterygiformes by Nelson (2006), Long (2011), Nelson et al. (2016), van der Laan (2019).

It was assigned to Subterbranchialia by Zangerl (1981); to Paraselachimorpha by Nelson (2006); to Chondrichthyes by Sepkoski (2002), Grogan and Lund (2009); and to Holocephali by Zangerl and Case (1973), Long (2011), Nelson et al. (2016), van der Laan (2019).
