Taxonomy
Microcheilinella was named by Geis (1933) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ludl-l Tr l Sepkoski's reference number: 648,1066]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Microcheilinellidae.
It was assigned to Podocopida by Sepkoski (2002); to Pachydomellidae by Kozur (1985), Hoare and Mapes (2000), Fohrer and Samankassou (2005), Crasquin and Forel (2010); to Sigilliidae by Tanaka (2018); and to Microcheilinellidae by Crasquin (2008), Zazzali et al. (2015), Abushik and Evdokimova (2016), Chitnarin (2017), Forel (2017), Chitnarin and Ketwetsuriya (2021), Kolar-Jurkovšek et al. (2024).
