D. C. Christophel and S. D. Lys 1986 | Architectural features: leaves simple, entire, pinnate, mostly symmetrical except when falcate. Size range: microphyll to mesophyll. Leaf tip: obtuse, acute or attenuate. Leaf base: mostly acute, occasionally obtuse. Venation brochidodromous with secondary veins forming a distinct intramarginal vein. Secondary veins regularly spaced, numerous, straight to slightly curved, uniform, rarely branching, emerging at a high angle (40-80°). Intersecondaries few and simple. Tertiary veins random reticulate to branched percurrent. Leaves with less than five orders of excurrent branching. Cuticular features: leaves hypostomatic, stomates scattered, orientation random. Stomata1 complex anomocytic. Lid cells, trichomes and hydathodes sometimes present. Epidermal cells straight sided or undulate. |
