E. Perrier 1928Squamosal allongé en arrière, supportant le carré, qui est lui-même long et presque horizontal. Préfronlal séparé du nasal par l'échancrure nasale. Famille extrêmement nombreuse (plus de 250 genres et de 1000 espèces), divisée en 3 sous-familles, elles-mêmes très homogènes, les genres ne différant guère que par des détails dans l'écaillure et dans la dentition.
