It was reranked as the unranked clade Machaeridia by Parry et al. (2019).

It was assigned to Animalia by Adrain (1992); to Problematica by Sepkoski (2002); to Annelida by Vinther et al. (2008); and to Aphroditiformia by Parry et al. (2019).
