Tellina obesa was named by Deshayes (1855). It is extant.

It was recombined as Psammotreta (Leporimetis) obesa by Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012); it was recombined as Leporimetis obesa by Coan et al. (2000), Moore (2003) and Hendy (2021).

    It was recombined as Apolymetis biangulata by Durham (1950); it was recombined as Psammotreta (Florimetis) biangulata by Stanton (1966) and Adegoke (1969); it was recombined as Florimetis biangulata by Moore (1968); it was synonymized subjectively with Leporimetis obesa by Moore (2003).
