Xiang 1998 (Carbonocoryphinae)A new subfamily of Phillipsiidae (Oehlert, 1886), Hahn, Hahn and Brauckmann, 1980 with the following features: glabella truncated conical, pyriform to cylindrical in outline, slightly constricted between r - r , with 3 or 4 pairs of distinct lateral glabellar furrows, of which the S1 is incised; occipital furrow with or without lateral branches; occipital ring without isolated lateral occipital lobe; preglabellar field commonly present and more or less depressed; anterior border furrow distinct; fixed cheek relatively narrow at E and somewhat depressed opposite to palpebral lobes; elevated banded palpebral lobes large to medium in size; facial sutures with short or without straight section E - S ; thorax of 7-9 segments; pygidium shorter than cephalon, with ill-defined border; axis relatively short, with 7-11 axial rings and a distinct postaxial area, on which a long postaxial ridge is present or not; pleural areas with 5-9 pairs of pleural ribs, of
which anterior bands are more elevated and longer than posterior bands; pleural furrows deep, interpleural furrows shallow; pygidial border more or less demarcated; without distinct border furrow.
