Taxonomy
Castoroidea was named by Gray (1821) [authorship based on principle of coordination; apparently first used at this rank by Gill 1872]. It is extant.
It was assigned to Rodentia by Montgelard et al. (2002); and to Castorimorpha by McKenna and Bell (1997), Doronina et al. (2017).
