Dalmanitidae was named by Vogdes (1890). Its type is Dalmanitinae. It is the type family of Dalmanitoidea.
It was assigned to Phacopida by Dean (1983), Whittington et al. (1997); and to Dalmanitoidea by Budil et al. (2009), Adrain (2011), Randolfe and Gass (2024).
