Arthropoda (arthropod)
From Lamsdell 2025: There has been some uncertainty over the appropriate taxonomic authority for Arthropoda, well summarized by Hegna et al. (2013), who determined that von Siebold (1848) represented the earliest known occurrence of the name at the time and that the synonymous Condylipoda Latreille, 1802, represented a nomen oblitum. Recently, further work by Martínez-Muñoz (2023) has suggested use of Arthropoda can be traced back further still to Gravenhorst (1843) and so this is the taxonomic authority given here.
It was assigned to Metazoa by Shoshani et al. (1989), Sepkoski (2002); to Animalia by Zhang and Shu (2005); to Ecdysozoa by Edgecombe et al. (2011); and to Panarthropoda by Zrzavy et al. (1998), Nielsen (2012).
