Taxonomy
Armadillo molassicus was named by Heer (1864). It is an impression. Its type locality is Oeningen (Zurich collection), which is in a Sarmatian crater lake limestone in the Upper Freshwater-Molasse Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Armadillidium molassicum by Morris (1979).
